The meeting was called to order by President Bill McCullam at 2:05 p.m. at the First Unitarian Church of Cleveland. Printed copies of the minutes were made available to members. A motion passed to dispense with the reading of the minutes. The financial report was approved.
Bill gave tribute to former board member Marge Wilson and introduced Wanda Sims who has been appointed to her unexpired term. Bill also talked about our new website. He noted that prospective members can join via the website and that our price survey data is presented in a way that comparisons can easily be made between funeral homes. Bill acknowledged the work that Don Stimpert has done to get the website launched. He described the services that the Funeral Consumers Alliance (FCA) provides for us and pointed out the portability of Memorial Society membership through our FCA affiliates. He noted that CMS has added two contract Funeral Directors—Best Funeral Home in Middlefield and Thompson Smith and Nesbitt of Conneaut, Ohio.
Bill presented the slate from the nominating committee: President – Bill McCullam, Vice-President – Jane McCullam, Secretary – Mark Binnig, Treasurer – Don Stimpert. Trustees nominated to serve through 2017 were Linda Betzer, Martha Manring and Maureen Kundtz. There were no nominations from the floor and the slate passed unanimously. Continuing in office are Roger Peckinpaugh (2015), and Wanda Sims (2016)
In the discussion, questions were asked about how CMS is reaching out to the community and how it could do a better job of publicizing its message. Questions were also asked about reciprocity with other societies and how to find them in other regions.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:15
