Things To Do

Do you have a “To Do” list? I do, and every day I check things off – and add things! Here are suggestions to add to your “To Do” list.

  1. Make a list of medications you take regularly and put it in your wallet. I recently went to the ER and, when asked about my meds and dosages, I was in too much pain to remember much of anything. Now I keep the meds list in my wallet along with my Medicare and health insurance cards, my Cleveland Memorial Society card, my lawyer’s card, a list of vital people to notify if I’m too sick to call, AND – –
  2. A tiny copy of my Advance Directives – Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care, Living Will, and Durable Power of Attorney (for business affairs.).

Go to a photocopy machine with your Advance Directives. (You DO have them, right? If not, go to the website for Compassion and Choices and click on Ohio to get the forms.) Put the copy machine on a reduction mode (usually 75%, 50% or smaller). Then copy ALL the pages of EVERY document, reducing them until they all fit into your wallet- next to your other important cards. That way, if you have to go to the ER, the nurses will LOVE you for making their job a little easier.
